F. E. Smith Has

Passed Away

Another of our good citizens passed off the stage of action Saturday [21 FEB 1931] morning when Francis Emmett Smith answered the last call at his home in North Ralls.

Mr. Smith, who was 65 years of age, having been bron January 24th, 1866, at Rosalie, Red River County, Texas, had been confined to his room for several months and had been bedfast several weeks.

He was married on September 13th, 1891, at Rosalie, Texas, to Miss Ida Lavinia Thorne. To this union were born three sons and three daughters, all of whom survive.

Mr. Smith and his estimable family moved to Ralls in 1919 and had resided here since. He was an excellent gentleman, honest, fair and cheerful. He was an ideal neighbor and friend, a kind and affectionate husband and father, and a very worth while citizen. He was director of a home that reared a most excellent family of sons and daughters who are good citizens of the communities in which they reside.

Funeral services were held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in this city [Ralls] Saturday [28 FEB 1931] afternoon at 5:00 o'clock, the Rev. O. A. Mealer, pastor of the congregation, officiating. Interment was made at Ralls Cemetery.

Surviving members of the family are: The wife, three sons and three daughters, Mrs. Forrest Storey, Wilburn and Thorne, Ralls; Mrs. Charlie Hinson, Owens; Mrs. Noel Ligon, Farmer, and Joe of Sudan; one brother, C. W. Smith, Rosalie; one sister, Mrs. S. P. Smith, Detroit, Texas; step-mother, Mrs. Dora Smith, Morganfield, Ky.

The Banner joins the many friends of these good folks in extending sympathy in their great loss and bereavement.
