Seymour (Special)--Services for Alby J. Cockrell, 80, of Seymour will be at 4 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Solomon of Oklahoma City officiating. The Rev. David Ray will assist.

Burial will be in Westover Cemetery under direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Cockrell died Saturday, Dec. 17, 1994, in Westview Nursing Home.

He was born May 4, 1914, in Westover. He graduated from Megargel High School and McMurry University in Abilene. He did graduate work at Perkins School of Theology in Dallas and Illia School of Theology in Denver. He married Nila Prickett on July 8, 1935, in Westover. He served in the conference and jurisdictional level of Kings Manor Retirement Center in Hereford. He was chairman of the Town and Country Commission, chairman of Conference Board of Evangelism, and chairman of the Conference Health and Welfare Ministries. He was a member of the Lubbock Methodist Hospital Board, Methodist Home for Children in Waco and the Methodist Mission Home in San Antonio.

He was a retired Methodist minister. He had worked in O'Donnell, Petersburg, Littlefield, Lubbock, Brownfield and Levelland. He retired in 1979.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marsha Hartos of Houston, Nancy Jackson of Nashville, Tenn., and Connie Kaplan of Santa Monica, Calif.; two sisters, Lucille Haralson of Sherman and Mary Nell Lambeth of Lubbock.; six grandchildren.

Services for Margaret Hannsz, 82, of Lubbock will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday [3 JUL] in First Baptist Church with the Rev. D. L. Lowrie, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of the Sanders Funeral Home.

She died Monday, July 1, 1996, in Horizon Specialty Hospital.

She was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Bogota [TX]. She married Herbert E. Hannsz on Oct. 3, 1936. They moved to Lubbock in 1940. He died Aug. 6, 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Good News Class and the Prime Time Choir.

They operated a Wholesale House for Farm Supplies.

Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Reed of Ralls and Lavinia Morris of Moore, Kola; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Prime Time Choir.

Related Story: Accident Victim Dies

A third victim died Monday after suffering injuries in an April [1996] car accident that occurred as four elderly women rode together to church.

Margaret Hannsz, 82, of Lubbock died Monday in Horizon Specialty Hospital, where she had been since her weeks of treatment at University Medical Center following the wreck.

Hannsz, Geraldine Holtkort, 80, and Agnes Roberson, 81, were critically injured in the April 29^th wreck, which also seriously injured Ruth Nutt, the 82-year-old driver of the four-door Saturn the group was riding in.

Holtkort and Roberson died of their injuries a few days after the accident. The driver of the second car, 21-year-old Shawna Arriaga, was not injured in the collision.

A [Lubbock] county grand jury indicted Arriaga on May 22 on two counts of criminally negligent homicide in connection with the wreck.

The collision occurred as Arriaga, traveling west on 24^th Street [in Lubbock], collided with the passenger's side of the Saturn, which was traveling north on Avenue S.

The intersection is controlled by a stop sign on 24^th Street. Arriaga told officers she had been experiencing brake problems shortly before the crash.

Levelland (special)--Services for Martha Juanita "Nita" Hinson, 90, of Levelland will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1987, in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David H. Robertson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery [Ralls, TX] under direction of Geo. C. Price Funeral Directors.

She died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Cook Memorial Hospital [Levelland, TX] after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Red River County [TX} and moved to Levelland in 1934 from Ralls. She married Charlie Hinson on April 18, 1917, in Paris [TX]. He died Nov. 5, 1939. She resided in Ralls from 1919 until 1934 when she moved to Levelland. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Elizabeth Peden of Lubbock, Nelda Ellerd of Clovis, N.M., Juanita Fincannon of Levelland, Mary Vanderhoef of Denver, Colo., and Patsy Roth of Breckenridge; a brother, Joe Smith of Kingsland; a sister, Agnes Ligon of Lubbock; 19 grand children; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Hinson, Bill Hinson, David Ray Hinson, Ronnie Hinson, Steven Roth and John Peden. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Hinson, Billy Don Ellerd, Bruce Ellerd, Johnny Fincannon, Trig Vanderhoef, Terry Hinson, C. C. Brown and Jimmy Dunn.

Ralls Rites Set for Mrs. Ligon

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Ralls, for Mrs. Leona Ligon, 65, 4415 26^th St., a resident of Lubbock from 1935 until a year ago.

Officiating at services will be the Rev. Walter White, pastor of the Ralls First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery.

Mrs. Ligon, born in Erath County, moved to Ralls in 1916 with her husband, Jake Ligon, who died in 1956.

Mrs. Ligon died Tuesday night in a Big Springs hospital, where she had been for about a year.

Pallbearers will be H. L. Porter, Petersburg, and Otho Reed, O. D. Stephens, Charles Tyer, Raymond Reese and Marvin Arnold, all of Ralls.

Mrs. Ligon died at 8:20 p.m. Monday in Methodist Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Nolan County and attended Sweetwater schools. She moved to Lubbock in 1948 and married Howard Ligon on Feb. 12, 1949. She was a line supervisor for Litton Co. from 1972 until 1984. She had been a senior cashier at Builders Square since 1985. A daughter, Sharon Ann Ingley, died Sept. 24, 1991.

Survivors include her husband and two grandchildren.

Rites Friday for Mother of Levelland Resident

Mrs. Ida Ann Lavinia Smith [nee Thorne¹], mother of Mrs. Charles Hinson of Levelland, died Thursday afternoon at her home in the Maple community near Morton [TX]. She was 81 years old.

Funeral Services were held Friday at 3 p.m. from the Ralls Assembly of God church. The Rev. A. Cockerell, of Petersburgh, officiated, assisted by the Rev. J. G. Strickland.

Burial was at the Ralls cemetery under the direction of Marr-Carte Funeral Home.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Forrest Storey, Ralls; Mrs. Charles Hinson, Levelland; And Mrs. Noel Ligon, Lubbock; two son, Wilburn Smith, Ralls; and Joe Smith, Maple; one brother, Hardy Thorne, Corpus Christy; and one sister, Mrs. Bodie Aconley, Vancouver, B. C; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Burial will follow at Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Storey died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Hospital in Lubbock.

Born in Bogota, she was a member of the Church of Christ. She was married to Forrest Dewitt Storey Jan. 12, 1913 at Bogota, and he died Jan. 14, 1971. She moved to Ralls in 1918 from Red River County.
