TARIAN MAKAK

This dance portrays a time when the Melanaus go for catching shrimps offshore. A group of men and women from a family leave their home in the morning bringing with them fishing equipment called Pakak. In a small boat called Alui, they paddle and sometimes sail the boat to an area of the sea where they can catch a lot of shrimps. The shrimps that they have caught are later dried in the sun for sale and for their own food.
