An interesting thing to do once you've considered how FUD can be used against Linux is to consider how FUD can be used against Microsoft. Note that I am not advocating use of FUD against Microsoft but, rather, examining ways in which Microsoft is vulnerable to FUD. Please note that FUD is largely ineffective against industry leaders due to their inherent credibility, and may be counter-productive unless well disguised. I.e., accusing Microsoft of putting out buggy unstable products with poor support is not going to convince the Pointy-Haired Boss to go with another product. Facts (especially in terms of dollars and cents and long-term viability) are more important there. Some limited FUD may be acceptible in order to emphasize the strengths of your product, but note the word ``limited''.
