Deceased was dau. of the late Maj Alexander Martin, was born in the state of Tennessee, April 21, 1823 and came with her parents to this count when about seven years old. She was married to John D Carr Oct 11 1842, united with the Methodist Episcopal church (south) in early life and was a constistent member for ten or eleven years but to use her own expression she learned the way of the Lord more perfectly and was immersed in August 1857, and has been aconsistent, faithful and zealous member of the church of Christ, at New Hope since that time. Deceased Was a great sufferer, and was sick for two years & six months. She bore her affliction with Christian foritude and died as she had lived rehoicing in the hope of immortality and eternal life. She leaves a husband and eight children and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. In her death her husband has lost a pleasant companion her children a kind and loving mother her associates a kind friend and the church a truly say she has lost a mother in israel. Deceased by her pleasant disposition quiet walk and godly conversation, made friends of all whith whom she came in contact and as a consequence large numbers atteded her funeral. After an impressive and appropriate discorse by Eld J J Errett from Hebrews 4th chapter and 9th verse; :There remaineth therefore a rest for the prople of God the services were consluded by singing the bearuiful and appropriate hymn. Sister thou wast mill and loyely Gentle as the morning Breeze Pleasant as the air of evening When It floats among the trees. Death: George Benton Martin departed this life on Tuesday evening at 2 oclock September the 16th 1845 aged six years and eleven days.
