TSTT PREMIUM 900 SERVICE

FACT SHEET

  1. WHAT IS THE TSTT PREMIUM 900 SERVICE?

    The TSTT Premium 900 Service is a local pay per call service which allows the owners of the 900 lines - i.e. the information providers (IPs) - to earn revenue while providing a service over the telephone (e.g. Psychic Hotline). In utilizing the 900 service, the IP can charge a premium rate to anyone who calls his information service. Call toll charges will be applied by TSTT to each 900 number, either on a per minute or a per call basis. The IP and TSTTwill agree on the premium rate tho be charged and its apportionment. In this way both TSTT and the IP will benefit from the revenue generated by calls to the 900 lines.

    It is the responsibility of the owner of the 900 line to advertise his/her service and the associated toll charge.

  2. HOW WILL THE SERVICE OPERATE?

    There are two scenarios under which this service will operate:

    (i) Person to person calls - i.e with a live operator;
    (ii) Call terminations on the IP's automated voice response system.

    The service is availableto rotary customers for calls to a live operator.

    Customers will dial the seven digit 900 number (e.g. 900-8765) and be connected to the IP who is responsible for advising the customer of the toll charge, the type of service offered, and the need to have parental permission is under 18. This advisory must be communicated within the compulsory 18 second free preamble - i.e. 15 seconds to announce the message and 3 seconds within which the customer may hang up without being billed.

    Each 900 line may have a different toll charge associated with it. Calling customers are advised to ask for the toll charge at the start of the call, if it is not made known. The owner of the 900 line is required by the service contract to state the cost of the call.

    This service can only be accessed within Trinidad & Tobago

  3. WHAT TYPE OF INFORMATION SERVICES WILL BE OFFERED?

    The 900 service will be governed by an agreement which will state the IP's responsibility for the information content and the type of information. Information which is offensive, abusive, indecent, obscene or menacing or for any purpose not permitted by law, will not be allowed under the agreement. Reference can be made to the front pages of the Telephone Directory page T43, "Terms and Conditions of Telephone Service: Removal of Equipment and/or Disconnection of Services" clauses 8.1.4 to 8.1.6.

  4. HOW WILL CUSTOMERS BE BILLED?

    Calling customers who use the 900 service will be billed at the rates agreed to by the IP and TSTT. A statement of all calls and the associated charges will appear on the customer bill in a similar manner to the 976 calls, i.e. listed below Call Charges - International.

    The owner of the 900 line will be billed for line installation and rental at the regular business rates. Each 900 number will have a unique 950 number assigned to it against which these charges will be stated on the owner's bill.
