A large number of students and faculty of the department hold memberships of the IEEE. The department organizes a number of IEEE activities throughout the year. Several faculty members from the department hold administrative positions in the IEEE Delhi chapter. Several faculty members have received recognition from IEEE. Prof. Indiresan, a former faculty member of the department, was awarded a "Distinguished Member" award. Prof. S.C. Dutta Roy is a fellow of the IEEE. Currently, Prof. S.S. Jamuar is the chairman of the IEEE Circuits and Systems society, Delhi chapter.
