Seizure, Part Two "Emergency power restored, Captain. We have full gravity and life support back, as well as communications." Ensign Bradbury reported from the bridge's engineering console. "Lieutenant Torres, send a message to the main fleet. Let them know our situation." "No can do, sir. They took out the primary, secondary and tertiary long-range communications arrays. We have internal communications but no way of contacting the outside world." "Begin coordinating a defense against the borders. How did they know where to hit us?" "That's easy, Captain." Commander Xanatos said while studying the damage reports that were filling up his stations screens. "The Neos are in control of all the Fleet resources we left behind, including our shipyards. They must have a copy of our blueprints and targeted us accordingly." "Did the Chief manage to get off of his shuttle alright?" "No, sir. We have reports that the shuttle was heavily damaged while landing. No report on casualties yet." "Then we're short half of our security forces. Commander, establish what forces we have and where they are. I don't want anybody playing cowboy. This was too well-planned, and we're not going to take back the ship by going off half-cocked." "Yes, sir. The Neos seem to be intent on capturing our engine room. They have landed a majority of their shuttles in the aft quarters of the ship The shuttles have begun cutting through the outer hull. We'll have borders on board in one minute on my mark.......mark." First Lieutenant Rick Koenig shook his head trying to clear the cobwebs out of it. He remembered the shuttle landing and his being thrown forward moments after standing up. Someone was standing over him, attending his wounds. He recognized Colonel Richter from the base they had just evacuated. "Colonel, what happened?" "We are apparently under attack.. The ship is at red alert." "I have to get to the security command post and see what is happening. I may be needed." "You took a nasty bump to the head, Lieutenant, don't move too quickly or you may fall again." Rick didn't listen to her and tried to jump to his feet. As he stood the blood rushed from his head and he felt extremely dizzy. He fell down but the Colonel managed to catch him. "You kids never listen. You don't seem to be seriously hurt, you just need to take things slowly for a while. You won't do anyone any good unless you take it slowly. Here, let me help you up." The Colonel offered her arm to the fallen Lieutenant. "Thank you, ma'am." He rose slowly supported by the Colonel. "We need to get to a communications panel. I have to contact security or the bridge." The two of them managed to walk out of the shuttle without stepping on any of the wounded. As they began making their way to the communications console at the back of the hangar the Colonel sniffed the air softly. "Do you smell something?" "Send the security teams to the aft of the ship. I want the jumptroops to establish a defensive line to prevent them from moving forward. Assign the pilots and other combat ready personnel to protect the bridge and sick bay. Our main efforts must be to protect the bridge and engine room proper." "Aye, Captain." Lieutenant Torres turned to her duties. "Captain, we estimate that we have over 200 borders from eight armored personnel shuttles." "How many people have we been able to field?" "With the jumptroops and pilots, 75, most crew were heading to the mess. They're attempting to regroup but" "Reroute all command functions to the bridge only." "Not possible, sir. The main computer is not accepting commands from the bridge for any but external systems and those housed in the forward portions of the ship. Lieutenant Torres interrupted "The Neos have broken through! They're in the Auxiliary Engine Room. Twelve security officers probably killed." "Move everyone back there. If they take the main engine room we're doomed." "Too late, they're in already. Moving in overwhelming numbers." "Status of the Engineering crew?" Ensign Bradbury answered Captain Henry's question "Unknown. Last report from main Engineering was that the Neos had entered but ceased firing. They probably don't want to risk damaging the equipment, sir." Captain Henry set his jaw. "By God, I am not going to let them have my ship!" He scowled down at his useless tactical display. "If it comes to that, they are not going to keep her." He turned to Ensign Bradbury, "What's our ship-wide communication status?" "Captain, the Neos have cut all communications," Ensign Bradbury swallowed hard. He wondered if the Captain was going to scuttle the ship with all hands on board. Commander Xanatos sniffed the air. "Does anyone else smell something?" "The Neos have put some foreign gas in the ventilation system. Can we shut it down?" "Negative, Captain. They cut all controls from the bridge. We can't even control our own systems." As if to punctuate that last statement the lights went out. Seconds later the bridge was lit up by the main view screen. "Greetings Terrans. I am Homer, the new commanding officer of this ship. I suggest you all breathe deeply and relax. You will not be harmed until after we have taken you back to Mars and interrogated you. I fear you will never see your beloved Earth again. Cooperate and your lives may be spared. If you prove useful to the Neo Sapien Order." Within a minute the whole of the Normandy was unconscious except for the Neo Sapiens on board.
