Seizure, Part Four-A Cookie led his three men to the maintenance exit that was two corridors away from sickbay. He chose this point to exit because he figured that there would be no guards on any of the doors in this hall. It was used mainly for storage of supplies and had the ship's laundry. The hatch slid open in front of him showing him an empty section of hallway. Cookie poked his head into the hall and looked in both directions quickly. The hall was empty and he moved out and motioned for the three people he had with him to follow. Brian and Jim crawled out and stretched, glad to be out of one of the more confining maintenance areas. They had never been in a real fight before, but had passed the basic weapon courses in basic training. They were followed by the only other experienced soldier in his group. Ensign Williams crawled out and looked around. Cookie motioned for them to hold their position he crawled to the nearest corridor exit that lead away from sickbay. He glanced down it noting one Neo guarding a door. He racked his brain trying to figure out what was important enough to post a guard. He had to check his access map to realize that it was the secondary weapons control room. Cookie rejoined his small squadron. "There's a Neo there. He'll probably come running when we make our move. Worse, he may alert the bridge. We need to take him out when we start to hit the Sick bay." William interrupted, "I volunteer." "Sorry, Ensign. I need you with me. Brian, you're charged with taking him down. There are probably no more guards in hearing distance. When he's down you have to move in and see if anyone is in weapons control. You remember how to wire the door so it doesn't show up on the panels in Security or on the Bridge?" "Yeah. We need to synchronize our watches or something?" "Couldn't hurt. It'll be three minutes after the hour on my mark....Mark. We start at five minutes after. Take your position." "Yes, sir." Cookie led his group to the corner that linked with the corridor with the Sick Bay. His watch let out a soft beep at the appointed time and he surged around the corner and opened fire on the three guards outside sickbay. Jim and Williams joined him moments after him. No one knew who shot whom, but after their brief barrage all three were cut down. Three corners away Brian's watch let out a similar beep, but he hadn't had the foresight to cover it with his hand. As he came around the corner, the Neo was taking his weapon off his shoulder. Brian fired as quickly as he could. His first two shots missed, but the third one caught the Neo in his shoulder as he prepared to fire. A fifth shot hit the guard in his leg and sent him to the ground. Brian ran forward and fired a few shots into his chest at point blank range. As Cookie's group approached the door it opened and three Neos came into the hall. Cookie and company were expecting them and opened fire as soon as they came in sight. No shots missed as they were all at point blank range. Jim held the door open as Cookie and Williams charged into the room shooting at everything that was blue and moving. Three more guards were in the room and fired as they charged in. They missed Cookie and Williams, but managed to hit Jim in the shoulder as he came in. Brian hot wired the door open while standing to one side. A shot came through the door as it opened. Brian's pulse raced as he tried to figure out what to do. If he surged in he would be shot, but he couldn't stand out here forever. His hands began to sweat more than they ever had before and he barely managed to hold on to his gun. As a test he ran past the door. A second after he cleared the opening a shot came after him. Without thinking about it Brian spun into the doorway and fired blindly. Inside the room a Neo technician reacted as best he could and fired at the form in the door. A second later two bodies crumpled to the floor, both dead. Cookie closed on the nearest target while firing at another. He slid to the ground to pull himself out of the firing lines and bringing himself to the feet of the closest Neo guard. He sent his artificial foot out in a viscous kick to the ankle. The guard screamed in pain and fell to the ground before he could fire at Cookie. Cookie shot his crumpled form in the head. Williams managed to hit one of them before being hit himself. He was only grazed on his right shoulder and returned fire while ducking behind a piece of equipment he didn't recognize. The remaining Neo guard was the only one left standing in the room. He chose to go airborne and used one of the medical tables to assist him in his leap toward the area where Cookie had fallen. Cookie had the exact same idea and used his artificial leg to propel him into the air. They saw each other at the same moment and realized that they were going to hit. Neither had time to bring their gun to bear and each put their head down. They collided hard and both went down. Cookie fell back to the floor while the Neo landed on the medical bed Cookie was hiding behind. He turned to fire at the floor where Cookie had landed but Cookie had already rolled under the cover of the medical bed. The Neo suddenly sat up remembering that Cookie wasn't the only threat in the room. The Neo remembered too late. Ensign Williams fired into his head ending the battle. Cookie stood holding his head. "This is not a victory I am going to remember fondly." Ensign Williams was laughing. "That has to be the funniest thing I have ever seen." Cookie looked around the room noticing for the first time the prisoners. Several people were strapped down to the medical beds. They were all wounded. He also noticed the isolation labs were all packed with prisoners, most of whom where laughing. Cookie counted at least twenty prisoners, including two pilots and two jumptroops. He opened the isolation labs letting the prisoners out. A crewman he didn't' recognize made the too obvious "That's using your head" joke and got a gun butt in the ribs for his efforts. Cookie sent Ensign Williams to the maintenance corridor to get the weapons they had dragged with them. Cookie checked his radio, which had been turned off and checked in with the command post. "Hagen here. What's your status, Cookie?" "We're in control of the Sick Bay. We liberated about twenty crew members. I'm arming them now. Not sure about our casualties, at least two wounded, one out of action. I have to check on my fourth member. I'll let you know my next step when I figure it out." Cookie looked about the room at the prisoners who were now being rearmed. "I want a defensive perimeter, three corridors wide. Check every room. Williams, show them how to hot wire the doors. Then check on Brian." He grabbed Dr. Vela. "Where is Doctor Rhodes?" "She wasn't here. She may be in her quarters." "Okay, we need to get her. If we're going to take the ship back, we're going to take some serious casualties. We need all the doctors we can get our hands on." Cookie pulled out the radio. "Will, I'm going to get Dr. Rhodes. She's probably in her quarters." "Roger that. Who's in charge down there?" "O'Muirdagh. My radio is going off. I'll see that he gets one. Out." He turned to Ratislav. "You're in charge. I'll be back soon." Cookie left the sick bay and entered the maintenance ducts again, closing the access behind him.
