Take A Stand

standing up for the elimination of racism

I assume you've come here because you are ready to make your stand. We must let our voices be heard in this fight. We can beat racism and discrimination, but we can't do it without you.

Every person has the ability to make a difference. EVERY PERSON! That includes you. You don't have to march in front of parliament, or join any radical movements, all you have to do is say "Stop!".

Stop the hatred.

One voice alone is small, but together we can put an end to the hate and the disregard. Join the webring. It may seem like a small thing, but what an impact hundreds of thousands of people, each doing that one small thing, can make.

True, we are not there yet, but it will happen. I'm just one person, one voice, one site in the ring, but now, it's been started, and my stand will make a difference. Even if only one other person sees what I've done. If you are that one person, and you join the ring, and if only one other person sees what you've done, and they join the ring, and if only one other person sees what they've done... We can change the world.

So join the ring, let your voice be a part of the unified front. We are each a "Special Occasion".

...It's from an essay I once read, called "Pretty Like a White Boy: The Adventures of a Blue Eyed Ojibway" (by Drew Hayden Taylor), about a young man who never fit in due to his race. He didn't belong with the white people because he had native blood, but he didn't belong with the natives because he had white blood...

I've spent too many years explaining who and what I am repeatedly, so as of this moment, I officially secede from both races. I plan to start my own separate nation. Because I am half Ojibway, and half Caucasian, we will be called the Occasions. And I of course, since I'm founding the new nation, will be a Special Occasion.
...I believe we are all Special Occasions, and we should all be celebrated.
