The Sense & Sensibility Trivia Quiz
Emma’s on a S&S jag now that she has the widescreen version of S&S, so this month’s quiz is on that topic. Besides, it was S&S that induced her more acute state of rickmania to begin with, just when she thought she was not susceptible to romantic heroes (whether on film or not). Dear Emma,
I’d love to send some recipes for The Rickmaniac Cookbook. Do they need to have a Rickman theme to them? Mine don’t. . . I just want to feed him someday, if that counts!
Signed, G.
Dear G.,
It counts!
The recipes do not need to have a Rickman theme to them, or any theme, for that matter!. But please send any recipe that’s real and reproducible. You will have my undying gratitude, too!
Thank you for asking,
E.
And now,Ask The Rickmaniac
Joan, our Consulting Rickmaniac for March, answered the questions:
Dear Joan,
How can I tell if I'm addicted to the Flights of Fancy Guest Book?
Just Wondering
Dear Just Wondering,
Ask yourself these few simple questions:
1. You walk around mumbling plots for posting to FOF
2. Your friends & family complain that they can’t reach you by phone because you're always on-line.
3. You get up out of bed to post just one more quick one to the FOF.
If you answered "yes" to these questions then you are DEFINITELY addicted. However, don't worry about it. It's rarely fatal and "real life" WILL intrude no matter how much you try to stop it. Relaaaax and enjoy yourself.
Dear Joan,
My boyfriend is in serious need of a make over. Any suggestions?
Bored
Dear Bored,
The "George" look is always a good choice. Suggest he grow his hair long, dye it dark brown, and change his wardrobe to exclusively black clothes with leather accessories. If he balks at these suggestions, bribe him by telling him you'll gladly dress up as "Lady Marion" and will make it worth his while. ;-)
Dear Joan,
I find myself quoting lines form AR movies. Does this mean I’m losing my mind? My non-rickmaniac friends just roll their eyes. Signed, Citing in Cincinnati.
Dear C,
Quoting lines from AR movies is a good way to sort out who your REAL friends are. If they don’t know what you are talking about, drop them. If they are true friends, they will understand and love you anyway.
Dear Joan,
Do you think it’s a good idea to tell your co-workers “I’ll cut your heart out with a spoon?”, Name withheld by request.
Dear Unnamed,
This is NOT recommended unless you let George do the threatening. As this is highly unlikely, I suggest you keep those thoughts to yourself and mumble them in your office with the door closed.
The following is one of those questions that baffle all Rickmaniacs, and theories abound.
The question is:
What took Marianne so long? The Col.'s yummy!
Puzzled in Putney
Here’s Joan’s theory: Dear Puzzled,
It's a little known fact that Marianne had a hearing problem. As soon as she recovered from her fever the hearing problem cleared, she was able to clearly hear the Colonel's VOICE, and she fell in love with him immediately. Love, Joan.
Here’s Mary Anne’s theory: Dear Puzzled,
My only explanation is that perhaps Marianne’s corset lacings had cut off the supply of blood and oxygen to her brain. Let this be a lesson to us all, ladies: Never make an important decision while wearing tight foundation garments! Love, Mary Anne.
Raffaella, however, says,
“Kate, put on you eyeglasses!, was my main thought. Things like this can only happen in movies.” Raffaella, when she met Mr. Rickman in person at the Venice Film Festival, could see him perfectly.
Do you have a theory? Please send it!
My heartfelt thanks to Joan for being this month’s Consulting Rickmaniac
Raffaella from Italy sent three gorgeous photos, taken by the artist Andreas Neubauer:
