placebo is all the rage : placebo recently "programmed" an australian television program called "rage". it's a really late night music show where each week a different artist "programs". This means they pick their favorite videos and show clips and tell why they like them. the entire band was present and they played everything from abba to cypress hill. the show was on from 11:30 - 3:30 am and they played around 40 videos total. a complete playlist is coming soon. so check back here.

bside album in the works : according to an email i received, placebo is currently deciding on a bside album project. it MAY contain new material. two tracks expected to make the album are "kitsch object", a track that failed to make the roster of placebo's "without you i'm nothing" album and "paycheck", a song that placebo recorded for their demos--and one of the songs that caught david bowie's attention when he previewed the band's demos many years back. also according to this source, placebo are working to release a uk video consisting of all their promotional videos. A placebo biography is also expected before the end of 1999 in the uk.

new zealand show : placebo recently performed in auckland, new zealand. they performed at a venue called "the powerstation". the show was originally 20 and over due to alcohol but the venue moved it back to all ages. they also overbooked the show by a few hundred people--so, it was packed! here is the set list and how brian introduced some songs (these are not in the correct order) :

pure morning
"it's teenybopper time."

bionic
"this is a song about a robot fuck."

scared of girls

brick shithouse

teenage angst

nancy boy

lady of the flowers

36 degrees

you dont care about us

ask for answers

every you every me
"if you go to the movies, you might hear this song."

my sweet prince

burger queen

without you i'm nothing

bruise pristine

evil dildo (extended version)

during the concert, brian also said "the greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved." he's been known for saying this at several other concerts. he also said something like "religious people are mad." near the beginning of the concert, he commented on their stay in auckland where they had a few days off from their busy touring schedule. they did a record signing in auckland the day before the concert and apparently around 300 people showed up. their attire at the concert consisted of :

brian : a white long-sleeved shirt with bright blue fish on the side and a long khaki skirt.

stefan : black mesh top with black pants

steve was not viewable. at the end, they threw their guitar picks and drum sticks into the crowd.
