Peter Femenella is an artist who drives a bus for the City of New York.
He lives an extraordinarily ordinary life with his wife and son in their house on Staten Island.
He says that painting the visions of his everyday life
is like trying to make brownies from the aroma of hot chocolate.
Although the image lingers the feelings that produced it are illusive.
Art is like a bus ride where the driver doesn’t know the destination,
he can only announce the sights along the way.
The passengers, or viewers of a painting, must bring their own experience to what they see
before they can know where the bus is going.
Hopefully, by the end of the trip, the passengers and the driver
will have shared an insight they never would have found on their own.
Peter Femenella wants you to decide where this journey ends
because a truth we are allowed to discover
is more valuable then one we are told to believe.
That is why “All work is guaranteed obscure.”
