CENTRE TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (St. Joseph County, Indiana): 6/25/98

Centre Township Fire Department serving southern St. Joseph County, IN
responded to an unknown injury accident on US 31 South.  Upon the arrival 
of Heavy Rescue 160 and Engine 140 a size up was given of a semi tanker
truck on its side blocking both south-bound lanes.  The truck was carrying
approximately 2,000-3,000 lbs. of refrigerated Carbon Dioxide.  The product
was not leaking, however the fuel tanks were ruptured.  The South Bend
Fire Dept. Haz Mat team was called to the scene within 5-10 minutes after
the arrival 160 and 140.  The situation was brought under control and some
evacuation took place.  The driver suffered only minor injuries.
