GERMAN TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (St. Joseph County, IN) German Township has received a new engine, a 1998 Pierce Saber. It is numbered 341. SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT (South Bend, IN) The South Bend Fire Department has added a new engine to its fleet. It is a 1998 Pierce Saber. It is the new Engine 1, running out of the department's headquarters at 701 W. Sample in downtown South Bend. The old Engine 1 has been renumbered Engine 8 and now runs out of Station 8 on Twyckenham Drive. CLAY TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (St. Joseph County, IN) Clay Township fire has received a new Chevrolet Astro Van. This utility unit is numbered 282 and is used to transport fire prevention and inspection equipment. CENTRE TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (St. Joseph County, IN) The Centre Township Fire Department has taken delivery of a very unique and useful unit. It is a portable generator with a telescoping light tower attached, a light wagon. It is similar to units used by many state departments of transportation for night jobs. The unit is numbered 180 and has proved its worth many times already.
HARRIS TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (St. Joseph County, IN) Harris Township has an Alexis Engine/Tanker on the way. It is on an HME chasis and should be delivered sometime around March. WARREN TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (St. Joseph County, IN) Warren Township has 2 Semo Elliptical Tankers on the way as well as an E-One engine. All 3 units are on Volvo chasis and should be delivered sometime around March. CENTRE TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT (St. Joseph County, IN) Centre Township has recently ordered a Ferrara Rescue Engine. It will be on Ferrara's brand new custom chasis, the Inferno.
