Cigars, Cigarettes, & Whiskey

(©1996 J. Wallach-E. King)

Cigars, cigarettes, and whiskey
down at the Flat Rock Inn.
Things won’t look so pretty
after the tonics and gin.

I’m a lonesome heartsick sinner
and lord am I confused.
She done left me spinnin’
and wondering if I’m the fool.

Cigars, cigarettes, and whiskey
down at the Flat Rock Inn.
Things won’t look so pretty
after the tonics and gin.

Passion, lace, and perfume
down at the Flat Rock Inn.
All was supposed to end there,
but it had just begun.

I left her with her husband
down at the Flat Rock Inn.
I left her with her husband
but he didn’t know where to begin.

I’m a lonesome heartsick sinner
and lord am I confused.
She done left me spinnin’
and wondering if I’m the fool.

I left her with her husband,
much to my chagrin.
Cigars, cigarettes, and whiskey,
it’s all the same in the end.
