"In [the] spring of 1980, I was a 10-year-old girl with my mom on a vacation. We had gone from [New Jersey] to visit family in Van Nuys, California. In a local bowling alley, I spotted Jimmy Baio talking casually to a couple people a few feet from me. I almost fainted. I KNEW it was him because back home I had posters and magazine pin-ups of him all over my bedroom walls. Beet red and giggling, my same-age-as-me cousin and I approached him and asked for his autograph. He smiled and was very friendly, and as he handed us the slips of paper, asked us both to kiss him on the cheek, to which we eagerly obliged.
