Top Drawer
"I've seen Johnny in a production of The Drawer Boy at Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago. It's been a couple of years, but he was excellent. John Mahoney (Martin Crane in Frasier) was another famous face in this production. It was a terrific show and well written play." (Posted: June 2005)
Strangers on a Train
"I was traveling home from work a week ago and noticed a guy who looked just like Johnny Galecki on the train station platform. Well, he looked just like a regular guy waiting for the train with his girlfriend. But that face -- I knew it had to be him. Everyone around us went about their business, not realizing the guy sitting on the bench was a star.
The train approached the station and he and his girlfriend got on the train. I followed right behind them, still only 99 percent sure that it was him. I had to know for sure before I approach him. A few minutes later, he spoke to his girlfriend. When I heard his voice, I knew it!! It was the actor who played Darlene's boyfriend on Roseanne.
I said, 'Excuse me,' and he looked up at me. I asked him if he gave autographs, to which he replied, 'Yes.' As he signed my slip of paper, I began babbling about how I couldn't believe nobody on the train knew who he was. And, as a Web developer, I told him that if he didn't [already] have his own Website, [I could] create one for him free of charge. He smiled and asked me the spelling of my name and handed [the autograph] to me with a shy, reserved smile.
I took the autograph from him, said thanks, and let him enjoy some privacy with his girlfriend. A seat became available, and Johnny respectfully led his girlfriend to sit down. At the very next stop, I got off the train and entered another car, so he wouldn't feel awkward with me standing there, looking at him." (Posted: November 2000)
