FYI:

  • Signed by Paramount Pictures in 1934, at age 6, as the studio's answer to Fox's Temple. Never rose to Temple's level, but worked as a supporting kid actor in the likes of 1938's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and 1939's Beau Geste.
  • Cast as titular character in MGM's David Copperfield (1935), but replaced two weeks into filming with Freddie Bartholomew.
  • As an adult, worked as a jazz musician and composer ("The Christmas Blues").
