Still Nancy After All These Years
"At my brother Kenny's 40th birthday party in Manhattan a couple of girls introduced themselves to me. A friend of theirs showed up and came over to us. She shook my hand and said, 'Hi, I'm Felice,' and starts to talk to the girls. I jerked her back in front of me and said, 'You look familiar,' then screamed, 'OH MY GOD -- FACTS OF LIFE!!!' Her friends shrieked with laughter and Felice [Schachter] covered her face in embarrassment.
Thinking I was incorrect, I looked at the girls and say, 'No?! She's not?!' They continued to laugh, shaking their heads yes! I hugged Felice and told her how glad I was to meet her. She hugged me back, and was laughing, too. [I] said that I KNEW it was her because she was always so pretty, and she looked exactly the same! Her friends forced her take a picture with me and give me an autograph. I was so embarrassed.
Felice told me that in a VH1 interview she was asked what it's like not to be recognized anymore. She told them she gets recognized all the time. She's been doing directing and film work; my brother's a theatrical Teamster, and that's how they met. All through dinner I kept staring at her, and whenever she looked at me I'd look away. Her friends laughed at me all night, but she was really nice. And still beautiful." (Posted: January 2007)
