Cosmetics you make yourself, in your own kitchen, not only cost less, but you also know what's in them. These reasons alone are enough to make them from scratch. However, there's another good reason - they are superior to anything you can buy on the store shelves. I'll add more as time permits.

Vinegar Hair Rinse

1 quart apple-cider vinegar
2 Tbs. chamomile flowers
2 Tbs. sage leaves
2 Tbs. basil leaves
2 Tbs. eucalyptus leaves
2 Tbs. lavender flowers

Heat vinegar until just beginning to simmer.   Add herbs, bring back to a simmer;
then remove from heat. Allow to steep until cool. Strain back into the vinegar
bottle. Use 2 or 3 capfuls massaged into hair after shampooing. Rinse just a
little if you don't like the scent, but you don't have to rinse it out. You will
be amazed how soft, shimmery and easy to comb your hair is.

If you are lacking one or more of the herbs just leave it out. Experiment with
other herbal combinations. Try adding thyme, rosemary, nettles, cinnamon or other
barks or berries. Do a little research on which herbs enhance your hair color.
