Master Recipe Card
The top card below is a master recipe card. This recipe is made in bulk and then separated into portions and frozen. You can make Master Recipe Cards for all sorts of things and then divide it up to use durning the coming month(s). This particular card is for Mini Meatballs. I make them and freeze them on a cookie sheet. When they are frozen I put as many as I can into a freezer bag to pull out as needed.
This next card is a Menu Item like you will find on the Master Recipe Index (see link below - Menu Management). I may have several recipes that use the Mini Meatball Master Recipe with different sauces. Sometimes the sauces are prepared ahead, but usually it just takes minutes to make the meal.

The Recipe Dividers are grouped according to similarities, i.e. all the ground beef dividers are together, all the chicken are together, etc. I made a divider according to meal preparation method. Here are the headings of several of my dividers:
It's easier to define categories after you have all your recipes copied onto cards. For instance, I put tacos, burritos, nachos, all in the "Ground Beef, Cook and Package" category. Spaghetti with meatsauce goes in the "Ground Beef, Italian Sauce", but Spaghetti with meatballs I would put in the "Ground Beef, Meatballs and Meatloaves" section.
I have dividers for all the meats I use, plus yeast breads, sweet yeast breads, quick breads, brownies, crusts, muffins, and many more. The reason for so many dividers is so I can quickly find a recipe - almost without thinking about it.
