SiLVERCHAiR in the studio as of Monday!
Yup it's true guys! silverchair will start actually recording their 4th
album on Monday (August 20th/01) and I'm sure best album yet. They have
finished all the pre-production sessions and will begin recording somewhere
in New South Wales, Australia. The last three albums were recorded at
Festival Studios in Australia but there is no word if that is the place
where recording will take place this time. Anyway, make sure you check
chairpage often because a guy named Robert Hambling who has worked with
the chair before is recording, on video, loads of stuff from inside the
studio which will be posted on chairpage for our viewing pleasure while
we wait out these next couple of months until the album is ready for release.

CAN WE MAKE IT 5 STRAIGHT YEARS???
As you all should know silverchair has kicked complete ass for the past 4
years straight when it comes to the ARIA award for Best Aussie Band. It's
the only award that really matters because it is the only one the people
vote for. silverchair is yet again for the 5th year in a row nominated
for this award and as loving and adoring fans we are going to help them
win again... RIGHT!?? That's what I thought. Anyway, to visit Channel V's
website you can go to:

 Thanks for your vote guys!

DAVID BOTTRILL TO PRODUCE FOR SILVERCHAIR
Ok my friends! It is time to announce silverchair's new producer... he is a CANADIAN!!
and his name is David Bottrill! He has produced a wide range of music including Peter
Gabriel and the last two TOOL albums! The band met him in the States and are very eager
to begin working with him. They are in the pre-production stage right now which means
that they are working on all the songs to make sure everything is just right before the
boys go in the studio to record. Once the songs are recorded they will be mixed and
then NEW ALBUM AND A WORLD TOUR!! However, don't get too excited because all this stuff
including art work and videos means the new album will be out in 2002, but in the earlier
months (hopefully February or March). Till then stay tuned to the pond for regular updates!

producer search taking longer than expected...
Yes as always everything must be perfect when a silverchair album is going
to be made. The boys are currently getting together everyday to go over
the new material while they decide on who would be the best person to
produce their fourth album. Daniel, Ben and Chris are eager to get into
the studio and record their new record but it's going to take a bit of
time to find the person who will bring out the music's full potential.
All the members of silverchair want to be in the studio by July but
let's face it, it's not gonna happen. Right now we're aiming at about
August or September. But hey just remember when it comes out, it'll be
worth the wait.

new album on the way!
Now that the two big shows are over, silverchair are ready to buckle down
and start seriously getting everything ready for album #4 which is still
untitled at the moment. The songs One Way Mule and Hollywood may not be
included on the album, Daniel has written over a dozen new songs and now
the band is just picking a producer, once that is done they will book studio
time and start the recording part. It is too soon to say when the album will
be released, probably at the earliest late, late fall. Keep an eye on
chairpage, and the pond for the latest silverchair news.

silverchair rocked rio
On January 21st silverchair were completely ready to hit the stage for their
first preformance of 2001. They played an awesome set consisting of songs off
of all their previous albums, with the acception of Tomorrow. That song will
most likely not be played live anymore due to the fact that silverchair have
played it about a million times and they're really sick of it. However, they
again premiered the two new songs Hollywood and One Way Mule.

silverchair prove themselves once again
On New Years Eve silverchair pulled off their first preformance in over a year
without a single flaw. They premiered two new songs off of their up coming new
album which we hope to see sometime in the year 2001, and if not definitly 2002.
The two new songs are called HOLLYWOOD and ONE WAY MULE. I haven't heard
one negative thing about the songs, so I guess that's a positive thing, and you
will be able to judge them yourself in a matter of weeks when you tune into the
live internet broadcast of ROCK iN RiO!!

i can't believe it's not rock
Daniel has done a 5 song EP with a guy called Paul Mac, you should recognize his
name because he did a lot of work on the Neon Ballroom album with special effects
and he also remixed Freak off of silverchair's Freak Show album. That remixed track
can be found on the Abuse Me single, and the Millenium Bug mix, which is a mix of
Anthem for the Year 2000 can be found on the Anthem single.
Paul and Daniel had been buddies for a while, and since Daniel now has his own place
with a little home studio in the basement, he and Paul worked on this little project
thing that wasn't even meant for release. But they both ended up being more than happy
with the final product and decided to release it through the internet and through the
LAS. The 5 songs on the EP are titled Rain, 3, Take Her Out, Staging a Traffic Jam and
Home. The lyrics were written by Daniel and Paul, in each song they sing the parts they
wrote. For more info see:

silverchair to appear on stamp
In March of 2001, silverchair's picture will be printed onto a number of
Australian stamps as part of a millenium thing. A couple years back they
did something similar, but this time around the stamps for 2001 will feature
rock bands and pop groups that have come out of Australia.
This is what it looks like:

SILVERCHAIR GOES TO ELEVEN
silverchair has now signed to a new label in Australia called Eleven Records,
a Music Company. It was started by silverchair's management and designed to
allow the bands on the label to have complete control over their music and
how it is marketed and promoted. This is exactly what silverchair wanted and
were not receiving from Sony. And for all us overseas people, their dropping
Sony has now gotten them a deal with Atlantic Records which will hopefully
promote them a little more and we might actually get to see a little more
of them in magazines, and on the TV. The little labels on your CDs will be
different but who really cares about that.

SONY wants one more go at silverchair
On October 16th, 2000 SONY music has announced that they will be putting
together a greatest hits and rare songs compliation of all of silverchair's
past recordings for their label. This will be a double CD and is expected
to be ready for stores within weeks actually. silverchair however, have
absolutely no part in this project, other than the fact that they wrote
the songs on this double album. No member of the chair or their management
has commented on SONY's decision to release this double CD. As I'm sure you
guys remember there were 2 songs that were recorded during the Neon Ballroom
sessions that never made it onto the album, one of these being Trash. The
other has been totally UNRELEASED and it was called "Without You", and since
silverchair did technically record that for Sony's label that may mean we
even get to hear and *new* song when this CD is released. I will keep you
posted, as always on what is happening with silverchair.

silverchair kisses SONY goodbye
On October 10th, 2000 silverchair's manager, Mr. John Watson [round of applause]
announced that silverchair have parted ways with Sony music due to a couple
reasons, #1 - their 6 year contract was up, #2 - Sony was not willing to give
Daniel Johns and silverchair creative control over their music. Hence, their
decision to not continue to go with Sony. Every good silverchair fan knows
how much control silverchair try to keep on what they are doing and if a
record label is not willing to honour that, then they should not be worthy
of having silverchair on their label. However, silverchair + Watto have
thanked Sony for the 6 years of supporting their music careers. silverchair
are going to be announcing their new record deal with whatever company they
choose in approx. a month from now, as heard this afternoon on "music news"
with Alan Cross on Edge 102, Toronto.

LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD
Daniel is set is appear on a new ABC drama. He will be preforming two new
songs on the TV show and is set to make his debut sometime in April/May.
Sam Holloway will not be appearing with Daniel even though that seems to
be the popular belief at the moment. This show is only in Australia, and
that means that yes, us North Americans are screwed over again! But anyhow
we have about 7 months to plan exactly how we are going to enable ourselves
to hear these songs. I suggest contacting one of your Australian friends
[cuz you should have at least one right?] and having them hold their phone
up to the TV while he plays the songs. Remember people, long distance money
is NOT the issue to a true silverchair fan... it is the fact of hearing the
two new songs! :O)

THE NEW ALBUM!
silverchair's Daniel Johns has announced that after Rock in Rio, they play
prepare pre-production and get themselves ready to go back into the studio
in early/middle 2001. In case you guys are unaware, Daniel has moved out
of home in this last year or so and has turned part of his new home into
a studio to record demos. He's been working on a lot of new music and Ben
and Chris are starting to meet up to go over some of the new material.
This totally kicks ass, and cheers up my pathetic gloomy day. Keep watching
CHAIRPAGE for more updates.
