(For a 1.5 lb. bread maker. This recipe comes from Sharon's co-worker, Marilyn.)

313 ml

water
2 tbsp 30 ml butter or margarine
1/2 cup 125 ml oatmeal
3 cups 750 ml flour
2 tbsp 30 ml brown sugar
1 tsp 5 ml salt
1 1/4 tsp 6 - 7 ml bread machine yeast

Add ingredients according to your machine instructions. For ours, the order would be:
water, butter, sugar, salt, flour, oats, yeast.

Select white bread (normal) cycle.

Notes:
This bread rises remarkably well for so little yeast. You may, however, find you need to increase the yeast amount slightly.
Try using a little whole wheat flour - you may need to boost the yeast amount even more.
