Can an evil spirit and the Spirit of God possess a human at the same time?

1 Samuel 16:14 ¶ But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the LORD troubled him.

We see here, that the “Spirit of the LORD” left king Saul, before the evil spirit started troubling him!

 

1 Samuel 16:15  And Saul's servants said to him, "Surely, a distressing spirit from God is troubling you.

 The evil spirit was having such a bad effect on Saul, that even other people were taking notice of it.

 

Matthew 12: 43  "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.

44  "Then he says, `I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.

You will notice, that the “unclean spirit” finds the man “empty”, not filled with the Spirit of God!

 

45  "Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation."

Because this man has not filled his life with God and the things of God, the man now has even more evil spirits in him!

 

There is even a possibly, that an unclean spirit was cast out of this man, he became a believer, and later fell away. Cf. 2 Peter 2:20  For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

Hebrews 6:4  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,

Hebrews 6:5  and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,

Hebrews 6:6  if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

    

 

From the above, I would say that the Holy Spirit of God and an evil spirit couldn’t possess a man/woman at the same time!!!
