Stevie Ray Vaughn 1954-1990

Stevie Ray Vaughn was one of the greatest blues/rock performers of all time. His tragic death left hundreds of thousands of mourners.

He was born October 3, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to Jim and Martha Vaughn. His big brother Jimmie taught him to play guitar and by 1963 we has playing in local bands.

In 1972, he started a band, Triple Threat Revue. However, by 1976, the name was shortened to Triple Threat after two members left.

He was married in 1979 to Lenora Bailey. Later, he renamed the band to Double Trouble and released their legendary first album, Texas Flood. The album won several awards in Guitar Player's readers' poll. It even beat Eric Clapton for best electric blues album!

The band released several more albums, all of which did quite good. Then, shortly after midnight on August 27, 1990, Stevie was killed when his Helicopter crashed into a hill. He was buried the 31st, and was 35 years old when he died.
