I was walking down life's highway,
a long time ago.
When I saw a sign that read,
"Heaven's Grocery Store."
As I got a little closer,
the door came open wide.
And when I came to myself,
I was standing there inside.
I saw a host of angels,
who were standing everywhere.
One handed me a basket and said,
"Remember, shop with care."
Everything a Christian needs,
was in the grocery store.
And if you couldn't carry it all,
you could return for more.
First, I got some patience,
and love was in the next row.
Further down was understanding,
I need that everywhere I go.
I got a bag or two of wisdom,
a bag or two of faith,
I couldn't miss the Holy Spirit,
He was all around the place.
I didn't forget salvation,
since it happened to be free.
I tried to get enough of that,
to save both you and me.
I stopped to get strength
and courage,
to help me run this race.
My basket was getting full,
but I remembered I needed
some grace.
As I started to the counter,
to do my Master's will.
But then I saw some prayer
and just had to put that in. for
I knew when I stepped outside,
I'd run right into sin.
Peace and joy were plentiful,
They were on the last shelf.
Song and praise were near,
so I helped myself.
Then I said to the angel,
"Well how much do I owe?"
He smiled and said,
"Take them wherever you go."
Again, I smiled at him and said,
"How much do I REALLY owe?"
"My child," he said, "Jesus paid
your bill a long long time ago."
