From Keith Badman's "The Beach Boys": The Beach Boys are forced to perform the first show of this tour without Carl, and screams of "We want Carl" ring out from the audience. Bruce joins in by saying "We want Carl too" in between numbers.
Other acts on the bill were Derek Billy & The Freshmen, The Vampires, The Strangers, and Joe Cahill. Apparently "Sloop John B" was booed during this first show. Bruce sang lead on "God Only Knows".
