From Melody Maker, courtesy Keith Badman's "The Beach Boys": The sound was rough and the group, except for the hard working Al Jardine, looked dejected. Then halfway through "I Get Around", Carl puffed on stage. "We love you Carl," erupted the audience. "We love you Carl," confirmed Mike Love...Still dresssed in T-Shirt and trousers, Carl tuned his guitar and The Beach Boys launched into the wistful "Surfer Girl".
