Byrd Theatre Organist 1960-1981, Eddie Weaver, Passes
Eddie Weaver

Edward James (Eddie) Weaver, 92, of Richmond, a musician at Miller & Rhoads Tea Room, Lowe's Theater, and The Byrd Theater, died January 27, 2000. He was the widower of Marion R. Weaver, and is survived by his daughter, and her husband, of Richmond; 2 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Eddie is probably responsible for the continued use of the Byrd and Carpenter Center (Lowes) organs today due to the interest he instilled in the audience while playing these theatre organs for more than 50 years. He was a world famous theatre organist giving concerts all over the US and other countries. His students continue to play in theatres today including the Byrd's current house organist, Bob Gulledge.
