GABRIELA member was stabbed and shot to death in front of her four
children. Another member along with her husband and 8-year old daughter
were massacred inside their own home while they were sleeping. Another
one was summoned by the military to their detachment and photographed
wearing a placard stating that they were supporters of the New People's

date, there are at least 250 political prisoners; at least 14 of
them are women and minors. Jailed with thieves, murderers and common
criminals, political prisoners, especially the women and children,
become vulnerable to the harassment and violence. Charged with common

Edfu
("Aram") is 12 years old and, on March 12, was rendered an orphan
when a patrol team of the 43rd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army
brutally massacred his parents and older sister. Edfu, who earlier
left their makeshift hut, was spared from the incident, was found
and taken by the AFP. Apart from other documented instances of human
rights violations against Edfu, he is now a prized showcase of the
AFP as "the young NPA" and is virtually a hostage of the AFP and
DSWD. It is Edfu's rightful wish to be reunited with his surviving
