out of everything, this is the one that's going to need the most work...
but i'll give you a basic list till i can go more indepth...
belmont: get off on this stop on the red line and the entire alernative
district will surround you... also here is boystown which lies between the area of
belmont and addison on halsted.. this is the gay district of town where
all the gay bars are, and where if you are a guy in leather pants you are
likely to be flagged down... sorry dykes, not much for you here except shopping (taboo tabu excellent toy section, i must say)...
wrigleyville: off of the addison stop on redline.. here you'll find the metro, annoyance theater, wrigley field (hence the name),
cubby bear, and the music box theater (which plays the best independent films) is just a short walk away...
andersonville: berwyn stop walk west several blocks to clark street.. swedish town, but in actuality, more like girlstown... many lesbian-oriented/run shops here including
the women and children first bookstore which is a feminist bookstore... also
on this street is kopi cafe, which is also women owned... andersonville, or girlstown, is not trashy as it's twin
boy's town, but it has the highest percentage of queer folk living there... there's this beautiful
house on berwyn which anyone will tell you it's their favorite house... also near this part is the neo-futurists theater company,
and also a variety of persian and middle eastern food are on clark near here, including my favorites: reza's and andie's...
chinatown: off of cermack stop on red line... small but great, just don't go after dark because it can get kinda dangerous there...
