here's a quick list of good places:

  • veggie places: okay here are a few veggie/vegan places...
    • chicago diner- on halsted in chicago between belmont and addison..
    • soul vegetarian east- it's two blocks east of the 75th st exit on i-94. their food rules. (says my friend katia).
    • Udupi Palace- Pure vegetarian South Indian food!!!! yummmy! on way west Devon...
    • Amitabul- it's off Southport and almost underneath the Southport stop on the brown line... it's a korean buddhist vegetarian cafe and they have the yummiest most wholesome meals on the planet!
    • blind faith cafe- there's one in roscoe village on lincoln and one on dempster street in evanston... good stuff! espepecially their vegan pumpkin pie!
  • pizzeria uno and due's near the grand el stop make the best pizza in the world!!! i'm not kidding!!! this is the only real pizza....
  • middle eastern is one of my fave's.. i tend to just order appetizers and am more than happy... here are some good places:
    • reza's and andie's.. these are two different places, but they are right next to each other on clark off of the berwyn el stop... both are very good, although reza's is definately more expensive...
    • olive mountain... on church st.(davis stop) in evanston, this place is pretty cheap and really good...
    • desert treat on belmont going west... definately the cheapest place around and really really good!
    • also pita inn in skokie on dempster is cheap and really good, no el to there though, sorry...
  • thai is good, but the only thai resturants i know of are in evanston:
    • lulu's dim sum and then sum on davis... mmm mmmm... yaki soba and sesame noodles are my friends here!
    • siam square also puts out good yummy food! all about the bimbim bop...

also a good place worth looking on the net is at veg web's world guide to vegetarianism they have many cities across the world listed for veggie resturants, organizations, and stores... this particular link is to chicago, but you can go through the previous menus to find out about other cities...

there, that's all i can think of now, but soon these will all be better sorted...
