Akin to photographs, facial expressions in Fei Danxu's works are especially lively which are vividly portrayed in his paintings of ladies. Gao Yuanmei's landscape paintings are noted for their lyrical charm which exude emotions.

Huang Shen was one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou and a contemporary of another famous artist, Zheng Banqiao. He is known for his free-style expression of landscape, humans and Buddhist subjects, his verses are excellent too. He was also noted for his filial piety.
