MARTIN TAYLOR
Martin, 36, is a very Experienced goalkeeper and Rated as one of the
best in the Ryman League. He joined Boreham Wood from Bishops Stortford in October
1992. Since then he has made over 300 appearances for the club. He gained an Isthmain
League Division One Championship Medal in 1994/95. He has also played for Jyderup
(Denmark), Hendon and Woodford Town. |
Defenders |
STEVE DALY
Steve, 27, is a commanding central defender who joined Boreham Wood from Wembley for a
four figure fee in February 1996. He has also played for Ruislip Manor. |
DAVE HATCHETT
Dave, 33, is currently Boreham Woods longest serving
player, having broken the Clubs all time appearance record with over 600
appearances. Now in his 13th season he joined from Enfield, his only previous Club. He has
also scored over 80 goals and can play in defence or midfield, and has even deputised as
goalkeeper on occasions. Dave has been voted "Player of the Year" on a record
six occasions, and was granted a well deserved Testimonial in 1994/95. |
ALAN McCARTHY
Alan, 25, spent 6 years as a pro at Queens Park
Rangers, having played for the first team several times before being sold to Leyton Orient
in 1995 for £25.000. He subsequently made 42 League appearances for the Os in his
1st season before an injury kept him out of the side. Released by Orient on a free
transfer in June 1997, Wood moved swiftly to secure his signature in competition with
several Conference clubs. |
GARY NISBET
Gary, 33, is a tall and commanding central defender who
joined Boreham Wood from Collier Row during the Summer of 1994. He has since made over 150
first team appearances for the Club, and was voted "Player of the Year" in his
first season in 1994/95. |
MATT CORBOULD
Matt, 20, is a strong defender who lives in Borehamwood, and
joined the club as a junior. He has also played for Potters Bar and Cheshunt |
DOMINIC GRIME
Dominic, 21, can play in either defence or midfield. He
joined Boreham Wood from Hitchin Town and made his First team debut on 18th October 1997
and scored a goal against Purfleet. He is the twin brother of Nick Grime, who was also at
Hitchin Town. Previously Dominic and his brother played for Stevenage Borough. |
BRUCE SEWELL
Bruce, 28, is a defender who joined Boreham Wood from
Yeading. He played his first game for the Wood on 28th February 1998. Bruce has also
played for Collier Row, Billericay Town, East Thurrock Utd, Purfleet, Barnet and Stevenage
Borough. |
STEVE SANDERS
Steve, 20, joined Boreham Wood at the start of the 1998/99
season. He began his career as a trainee at Huddersfield Town, before moving on to
Doncaster Rovers in 1997/98, where he made 25 appearances. Steve then had a short spell at
Lincoln City, last season |

JASON SHAW
Jason, 26, is a creative midfield player who has made more
then 150 First Team appearances since joining Boreham Wood from Harrow Borough for a four
figure fee during the Summer of 1994. Jason began his career with West Ham United and also
played for Redbridge Forest and Dartford. |
MARK BROWN
Mark, 21, is an attacking and creative midfield player who
joined Boreham Wood from Luton Town in December 1996. Born in Jersey, Mark was an
apprentice professional for two years at Exeter City, before becoming full time for one
year, after which he returned to Jersey to play |
STEVE HEFFER
Steve, 24, is an attacking midfield player who joined Boreham
Wood from Hendon, during the Summer of1994. He has made over 150 appearances. His previous
Clubs were West Ham, Southend United, Swindon Town and Grays Athletic. |
MATTHEW VIER
Matthew, 22, is a midfield player who joined Boreham Wood
from Stevenage Borough during the Summer of 1998. He began his career with Watford before
moving on to Stevenage Borough. |
ANDY PRUTTON
Andy, 28, is an attacking midfield player who joined Boreham
Wood from Harrow Borough for a 4 figure fee during the Summer of 1995. Andy began his
career with Wormley Rovers, before moving on to Cheshunt and Dartford. |
SIMON IRELAND
Simon, 26 is a midfielder or winger who was signed from
Doncaster Rovers. He has also played in the Football League for Mansfield town,
Huddersfield Town, and Blackburn Rovers. |
Strikers |
ANTHONY SAMUELS
Tony, 29, is an experienced striker with tremendous speed and
ability who joined for an undisclosed fee from Leyton Pennant. He has been the clubs
leading scorer in each of the last three seasons, 23, 22 and 31 goals respectively, making
over 150 appearances. His previous clubs include Leytonstone Ilford, Bromley and Collier
Row. |
PAUL SHAW
Paul, 25, is an attacking wing forward who made his First
Team debut for Boreham Wood in December 1996. His only other Club at Non-League level is
Barkingside. |
SHAUN MARSHALL
Shaun, 25, joined Boreham Wood from neighbours Enfield in
July 1997. He previously played for Hitchin Town where he scored over 40 goals in the
1994/95 season, thereafter moving to Stevenage in the GM Conference. |
SIMON MILLER
Simon, 23, is a pacey forward who started his career with
West Ham. His previous Clubs include Wycombe Wanderers and Barkingside. Simon signed for
Boreham Wood in August 1997. |
KERRY DIXON
Kerry, 36, signed as a player/coach from Doncaster Rovers
after he resigned as manager and he needs no introduction to football fans. In an
impressive career with Reading, Chelsea, Southampton, Millwall, Luton and Watford spanning
593 league appearances and 231 goals he also represented England at Under 21 level and
made 8 appearances for the full England side scoring 4 goals. |
MARK XAVIER
Mark, 27, is a highly talented striker and profolific
goalscorer. He began his career with Hendon and had a brief spell at Ruislip manor before
moving on to Harrow Borough in 1995. He was their leading goalscorer in each of his three
seasons with them and was the Isthmian League's leading goalscorer in 1995/96. He joined
Boreham Wood from Harrow during the Summer of 1998. |
COLIN SIMPSON
Colin, 22, joined Boreham Wood on loan from Leyton Orient, in
October 1998. He began his career as a trainee with Watford, before becoming a full time
professional and spending four seasons with them, before joining Hendon, last season.
After a short stay he moved on to Leyton Orient, scoring three goals in 14 appearances. |
Management |
BOB MAKIN (manager)
Bob was appointed Team Manager of Boreham Wood during the
Summer of 1993, and is now in his 6th season at the Club. He was a very successful
Non-League footballer and had a distinguished playing Career. He was named Icis League
Division One (Ryman League) "Manager of the Season " in 1994/95 when Boreham
Wood won the Championship. |
ALAN CARRINGTON
(assistant manager)
Alan has formed a very successful partnership with Bob Makin,
and also joined Boreham Wood during the Summer of 1993. He was also a very successful
Non-League footballer. |
DAVE DICKENS
(physiotherapist)
Dave is a highly respected Physiotherapist who joined Boreham
Wood in the 1980s, and has been with the Club ever since. "Dicko" is also
a keen cricket enthusiast. |
GARY ANDERSON
(physiotherapist)
Gary joined Boreham Wood as Club Physiotherapist from Barnet,
during the summer of 1998. |
