CENSUS: 1790, Fayette Co., KY James 1st. wife is unknown. His 2nd marriage was to Sarah Bryan, daughter to William Bryan and Mary Boone. Mary is the sister of Daniel Boone, the Kentucky and Missouri pioneer. James came to Kentucky prior to 1787 and began to buy land in the vicinity of Athens Kentucky. His home farm was located between Boonesbourough Rd. and the Boggs Fork Meeting House. Here he lived until his death and is probably buried there.
From Bio: p. 98; James Grimes, son of Philip, b. 1760 in NC or VA; d. June 1828, Fayetter Co., KY; m. 1st about 1780/1781 to (name unknown) (d. prior to 1787); m. 2nd. to Sarah Bryan, 22 Mar 1787 in Fayette Co., KY. Sarah was born 1 Sept. 1770 in NC and died Apr. 1855 near Athens, Kentucky. She was the daughter of William and Mary (Boone) Byran.
