A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (#1)

released in 1984
Directed by Wes Craven
Starring: John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, Heather Langenkamp,
Amanda Wyss, Nick Corri, Johnny Depp, Charles Fleischer,
and, of course, Robert Englund as 'Freddy Krueger'.

This is the story of several young teenagers who discover
that they are all having nightmares about the same character ...
one Freddy Krueger. Freddy can enter their nightmares and kill
them in grotesque ways.
After Freddy has killed off all but one of these teenagers, it
is up to young Nancy (Langenkamp) to stop him from haunting more
teens.

This movie launched Robert Englund's career.

Some Strange, yet interesting facts about ANOES 1.
(thanks to David (dave1428@aol.com) for supplying this)

Sean S. Cunningham, director of the first "Friday The 13th" directed
a non-dialogue chase scene in the first "Nightmare On Elm Street",
because Wes Craven was pressed for time.

The bathtub in the first 'Nightmare' was constructed over someone's
swimming pool. Heather Langenkamp had to spend 12 hours in it during
shooting.
