Please Forgive Me!

I am the homeless person you see on the street.
Please forgive me when you offer me something
to eat and I am slow to accept or even refuse.
My pride will not allow me to accept it because
at one point I could do for myself. I do not realize
that God is working through you, trying to help one
of his lost children.

I am the homeless person you see on the street.
Please forgive me when you offer a solution for
housing and I am too afraid to change living the
way I do. I have lost all things before and this may
mean I may get started over again and lose all again,
and that is more than I can think of dealing with. I do
not realize that God is working through you, trying
to at least provide a roof to live under.

I am the homeless person you see on the street.
Please forgive me when you offer clothes and I refuse
them. I may have plenty to wear and no place to keep
clean at. I get so discouraged that even though the
clothes may be clean, I may still feel dirty. I do not
see the beauty that lies underneath my skin and in my
heart nor can I see God's beauty in you while he is
working through you.

I am the homeless person you see on the street.
Please forgive me when you are kind to me and I get
angry with you. I do not realize that God is working
through you trying to show me there is hope.
I cannot see any hope at times.

I am the homeless person you see on the street.
Please forgive me when you get discouraged trying
to help me. It truly is not your fault that I do not
feel worthy of being loved or accepted.

The old saying holds more meaning now,
"It truly is easier to give than to receive!"

Isaiah 40
1
Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins.
3
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
6
The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
