BAND OF BROTHERS

Like most large television and film productions Band of Brothers has two crews (or units) working simultaniously to get the job done (in this case they are coded blue and red), the main actors go back and forth as required between sets. The BOB series will be comprised of 10 one hour episodes of which five are now considered completed and a sixth is half way thru production. Almost each episode has had a different director so far: Phil Alden Robinson (Field of Dreams), Richard Loncraine (Richard III), Mikael Salomon (Backdraft), David Nutter (X-Files) and Tom Hanks(That Thing You Do!). Obviously they have all been quite busy, so this week the filming in England stops for a one week break (additional filming will take place in Switzerland as well in the coming weeks). Donnie will be spending his time away from the project back in the United States.(08/24/00)

BAND OF BROTHERS

Donnie sure knows how to pick a project! His latest is a Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg production called Band of Brothers. The 10 part miniseries is being filmed in England at the Hatfield Aeorodome in Hertfordshire, which was the location used for the film Saving Private Ryan. Band of Brothers is a true story and is based on a novel by renouned WWII (world war two) historian Stephen Ambrose. The premise reads as a gripping depiction of (Army Rifle) Easy Company's most critical moments, one of which the parachuted decent in France on D-day. Rooney kidnapps Bobby (star series lawyer) and the one witness who could have proved he was not at the scene of the crime in an attempt to prove his innocence to his ex-girlfriend (whom he lost by going to jail) and to gain revenge on the two men responsible for ruining his life.
