This section is for comparing the American DBZ with the Japanese DBZ...actually I am just gonna use this to tell you what problems the American version has where as the Japanese version is perfect, after all they made it!

1.Actors

The actors in America seems not too "in to their character" when performing. All of them keeps adding a touch of kindness into their character when they are not suppose to! Like Piccolo's "let's go back and roast marshmellows" oh please! Plus they don't do any of the dramatic scenes very well. When Goku got hit, the actor went "Ahh!" For all of those who had seen a Japanese DBZ before, you would know what Goku would say right? If not read the bottom side. Also they can't really say the special moves they do very well. Example: Piccolo said "Special Beam Cannon Fire" in parts he went Special..Beam..Cannon..Fire. And what about Goku? He goes Ka...Me... Ha...Me...Ha! Where as the Japanese version the actor takes a long 15 second to do it, and the American actor took 7 seconds to do it. (these are the really powerful ones) and what about the fast Kamehameha? The Amercians take 2 seconds to say Kamehameha where as the Japanese take 5 sec. see? Americans don't really like to be dramatic. They also make the character look stupid. Look at Tenshinhan. He sounds so dumb whenever he says something. They keep adding the niceness crap again! Tenshinhan is suppose to be a little mean, not some "Barney the Dinosaur" wanna be! Also, why is it when it shows someone in American DBZ gets hurt, like Gohan for example, they don't show that they are in pain. If someone gets blasted and kicked around, I doubt it if they can speak as they were before....but NO!.. The American actors speak like they haven't felt pain. All they do is just talk normal, or somtimes they talk like they are tired, but they never talk like they are hurt!! If you ever watch any Englished dubbed Japanimation, for example Sailor Moon, you will notice they do not talk like they got hurt. If you don't believe me, look at Sailor Mars, this one episode her leg got burned...and she didn't scream in pain, she kept talking....oh come now!...if you saw a Japanese actor, like Masako, Nozawa(does Goku's Voice). Now that is the perfect actress! I mean, you ever hear her when she's trying to sound hurt?...It totally rules!...She starts with a scream, then with some kck kcks, and finally, she finishes off with deep breaths..now that's acting!

2.Voices

What is a good cartoon without good voices? In this case I am thinking that this cartoon is crappy! Most of the voices are so crappy that I don't think the producer of this show even gave a d@mn about it! Which is not something most people like. I wonder why they even brought DBZ to America. Probably to embarrass the hard core fans! Am I right? I am embarrased as hell! They messed up so much in so little time.... first they edit the good parts (blood and the characters actually hit each other), then they skipped some of the episodes, messed up the names,(These I am sort of okay with) and what they did to the voices? Oh hell no! This just angered me! Freeza sounding like a female? Oh that's just plain wrong! They did the same to Alpha from Power Rangers I believe. Then Vegeta's voice? That was also very wrong! Vegeta is suppose to sound manly not like some high school wuss! I say they get rid of that voice and replace it with someone that sounds a little more like James Earl Jones! Goku's voice is probably the best but it doesn't really sound or even close to the true version. The rest just plain sucked. Zarbon sounding like an aussie? Also those other Saiyajins from the room of space and time. I doubt if this is even American at some points! But out of all the characters the ones that sucked the most are....
11.Kurririn
10.Piccolo
9.Tenshinhan
8.Chou-zu
7.Sachirou
7.Dende
5.Kaio-sama
4.Dodoria
3.Zarbon
2.Vegeta
1.Freeza
such a pity really, only Bulma, Goku, and Yamcha are the only good voices in the American series...awww.

3.Theme Song

The songs that Saban created for DBZ really sucked!!! But the only good one(considering they are only comparing 2 songs) is the Dragon Ball Series! I mean, that song had more than 9 words in it! Amazing! Plus they put more effort to making that song. Unlike the Dragon Ball Z series, which pretty much only had 9 words in the song. Dragon, Dragon, Rock, the, Dragon, Dragon, Ball, Z, Yeah....come on! Even I could do better than that!...True, it has a beat, but it can never beat the Japanese version of that song!...And to point out, The "Rock the Dragon" is not the American version of the "Cha-La" song they made in Japan, though most people say that for some reason. I mean, it doesn't translate, sound like, or the sequence of the opening, come even close to the Japanese version. For those who heard or seen it, you know what I mean. If not, you can click here and hear what it sounds like. Another thing about the Dragon Ball Z theme song I forgot to mension was that Saban is too cheap to hire a real singer, instead the person who sings that crappy 9 words is non other than Shuki Levy, the co-producer. Now, it really is a shame, but that "rock the dragon" song is really annoying...I just hope they change it soon, cause some people might be getting crazy ideas listening to that crap!

4.Names

When I first heard what they called the Dragon Ball characters, I was annoyed.. Isn't it bad enough that they edit out the good parts and the other things I mensioned?...But no...they had to go over the top and screw the names also!...Sometimes I wish I can do something about it, but I can't...so all I can do is nag ^_^. First of all I think they did this because they think Americans won't be able to pronounce the names...oh sure! After about hearing a name for at least 2 times , people should pronounce it easily...but no..they think Americans are dumb (I'm asian, but I'm sticking up for you!) so they make it simple. For example,
1.Kuririn pronounced Ku Ree Rin, was changed to Krillen..
2.Tenshinhan...was shorten to Tien..*sarcastic*I wonder why?..
3.Gyuumao was changed to Ox King
4.Kaio-sama changed to King Kai...even thought translation is Lord Kaio...doesn't Lord Kaio sound better?...Rhyming namese sucks!
5.Buruma was changed to Bulma..wonder why..
6.Raditzu was changed to Raditz, this is probably the only one I understand...they can't pronounce "ZU"
7.Freeza was changed to Frieza, though pronounciation is same, the spelling still makes me angry!
8.Muttenroshi was changed to Master Roshi
9.((None DBZ related))Okay folks, if you seen the T.V. Commercial for the Tamagotchi product from bandai...they also changed that name! It is called a Tomagouchi Egg pronounced To Ma Guu Chi... see what i mean?
oh, one last thing....how do kids in commercial gets off saying things about Japanese toys and products, like they know everything about it? I saw the Beetle Borg Commercial where it shows this kid talking about a Shadow Borg, and like he knew everything about it! If he would see a Japanese episode of Beetle Fighters, he would shut up!...thank you.

Nihon-jin (Japanese)

This section is for telling you how the Japanese made everything about DBZ kick @ss!

1.Actors

The Japanese actors, unlike the American ones are more deticated to their character. They try not to make their character look like a major dork and they can dramatize when it is needed. The two people that can dramatize the best in my opinion is Masako Nozawa (Goku's voice) and Ryo Hirikawa.(Vegeta's voice) They have this one thing they do that makes them look truly hurt. They say something like this-"Hhhyaaaahhhh!!! kck..kck....kaaah....*then they take a exhale* and says something...like Nani? Or Vegeta calls Goku's name...Kakarotto.

See what I mean? And one of those takes like 1 minute to do! It really is very cool!. And when they do their special attacks, especially Goku, they stress the name to show they are concentrating energy, unlike the American version who makes people think it can be done like a snap of a finger. Goku always takes at least 10 sec. to do the Cho Kamehameha(The ultimate Kamehameha). Now if the Americans can try to do these things, that will probably make up for the dorkiness they gave the characters.

2.Voices

I don't know but I like the Japanese voices so much better than the other DBZ out in the world! Probably because I grew up on it ^_^. But anyways their voices are not only perfect for their character, but it seems that there really is a character like that out somewhere in the world. Probably just me. The voices in the Japanese series are always in perfect sync with the characters attitude and motives. It is amazing at how at one time Goku is all happy and sounding pleasent when all of a sudden he turns serious and his voice becomes serious as well. This applies for all the characters as well! We can learn a lot from these actors if we actually listened and focus on what they are feeling and how their voice can be altered a bit to sound the same yet in different moods. I say Japanese voices are the best! They have to be, after all it was these voices that we try to copy , or try to get close to...unlike the American version!

Theme Song

The Japanese theme song is the best! I mean, they hired proffesional singers, really thought of good lyrics, and took pride in it! I mean their songs last over 2 min! unlike the U.S. version, which last only 53 sec. The song also relates to the opening of the video!...But the thing is that if you translate the Japanese version word for word, it will seems stupid, but in the Japanese version you don't mind cause the song is great!
I got the song translation in my email!...by someone unknown... :(
Cha La Head Cha La
"Flames ripping through the clouds, fly away (away)
A new outlook opens wide from within
The earth's been punched in the face, and now it's angry(angry)
It's going to go blow up a volcano
If I find a dinosaur...
..In some melting ice, I want to train it to ride a ball
Cha La Head Cha La
I don't care-- no matter what happens
Cha La Head Cha La
My chest's beating with exitement
I'm a ball with energy out of control
Cha La Head Cha La
It's easier for new dreams to enter a empty head
Cha La Head Cha La
My smile's Ultra Z
Today's going to be great, too. --yay-yay-yay-yay-yay
Sparking!"

But I think this is the real translation!
Shine: Pierce through the clouds; Fly Away (Fly Away)
Through your body, is a spreading panorama.
Your face: Is angry at being rejected by Earth (angry)A volcano exploding.
Inside the melted ice [North Pole]
Is a dinosaur. You really want to train, don't you. Cha-La Head-Cha-La
Some feelings are stirring, like a chuckling Kappa [water imp]
Cha-La Head-Cha-La There is a crackling in your breast
A noisy Genki-Dama ... Sparking!
In the sky: a nose diving Jet Coaster (Coaster)
Falling Fast, towards that panic [Paradise of Panic].
Scenery: Pleasure at being turned upside-down. Seeing the mountain from behind.
There is no time for being bothered
Because we want to go to the "surprise" that is concealed somewhere.
Cha-La Head-Cha-La An empty head can be stuffed full with dreams.
Cha-La Head-Cha-La The Smiling Face of Ultra Z
Is here today too -- Aiyaiyaiyai! Cha-La Head-Cha-La
Some feelings are stirring, like a chuckling Kappa [water imp]
Cha-La Head-Cha-La There is a crackling in your breast
A noisy Genki-Dama ... Sparking!

We Gotta Power!
"An incredibly strong enemy is coming at me
I don't have time to cry about it
It just makes us a hundred times more excited
I'll become the leader of the party
Anything that can make you single-minded
Will eventually
Make you into an incredible person
No---Ten P-Kan
The sky is clear
Ippai Oppai
I'm so happy
Trouble and playing around
Silly Boys!
We gotta power!
Dragon Ball Zed
No--Ten P-Kan
My head is clear
Ra-Men Roppai
Ha ha I'm carefree
Enjoy the end of an era
Charming Girls!
We gotta power!
Dragon Ball Zed"

See? Won't make sense if translated, but it kicks @ss when sung in Japanese!!

4.Names

Well what can I say about the Japanese names? They are pretty good, but I must point out that in the Japanese language, they can't pronounce V...even though they did make 2 shows that I know of that starts with V...Voltron and Voltes 5. So, I know that you spell and pronounce this name- Vegeta like that. In fact, it spelled Bejiita (kanji said so) and pronouced Bejeeta.. but the only reason I spelled Vegeta through-out my whole page is so that I won't confuse you viewers...and that's about it.

This page is an expansion of the Angry at American Page
