American
This section is for comparing the American DBZ with the Japanese DBZ...actually I am just gonna use this to tell you what problems the American version has where as the Japanese version is perfect, after all they made it!
1.Actors The actors in America seems not too "in to their character" when performing. All of them keeps adding a touch of kindness into their character when they are not suppose to! Like Piccolo's "let's go back and roast marshmellows" oh please! Plus they don't do any of the dramatic scenes very well. When Goku got hit, the actor went "Ahh!" For all of those who had seen a Japanese DBZ before, you would know what Goku would say right? If not read the bottom side. Also they can't really say the special moves they do very well. Example: Piccolo said "Special Beam Cannon Fire" in parts he went Special..Beam..Cannon..Fire. And what about Goku? He goes Ka...Me... Ha...Me...Ha! Where as the Japanese version the actor takes a long 15 second to do it, and the American actor took 7 seconds to do it. (these are the really powerful ones) and what about the fast Kamehameha? The Amercians take 2 seconds to say Kamehameha where as the Japanese take 5 sec. see? Americans don't really like to be dramatic. They also make the character look stupid. Look at Tenshinhan. He sounds so dumb whenever he says something. They keep adding the niceness crap again! Tenshinhan is suppose to be a little mean, not some "Barney the Dinosaur" wanna be! Also, why is it when it shows someone in American DBZ gets hurt, like Gohan for example, they don't show that they are in pain. If someone gets blasted and kicked around, I doubt it if they can speak as they were before....but NO!.. The American actors speak like they haven't felt pain. All they do is just talk normal, or somtimes they talk like they are tired, but they never talk like they are hurt!! If you ever watch any Englished dubbed Japanimation, for example Sailor Moon, you will notice they do not talk like they got hurt. If you don't believe me, look at Sailor Mars, this one episode her leg got burned...and she didn't scream in pain, she kept talking....oh come now!...if you saw a Japanese actor, like Masako, Nozawa(does Goku's Voice). Now that is the perfect actress! I mean, you ever hear her when she's trying to sound hurt?...It totally rules!...She starts with a scream, then with some kck kcks, and finally, she finishes off with deep breaths..now that's acting! 2.Voices What is a good cartoon without good voices? In this case I am thinking that this cartoon is crappy! Most of the voices are so crappy that I don't think the producer of this show even gave a d@mn about it! Which is not something most people like. I wonder why they even brought DBZ to America. Probably to embarrass the hard core fans! Am I right? I am embarrased as hell! They messed up so much in so little time.... first they edit the good parts (blood and the characters actually hit each other), then they skipped some of the episodes, messed up the names,(These I am sort of okay with) and what they did to the voices? Oh hell no! This just angered me! Freeza sounding like a female? Oh that's just plain wrong! They did the same to Alpha from Power Rangers I believe. Then Vegeta's voice? That was also very wrong! Vegeta is suppose to sound manly not like some high school wuss! I say they get rid of that voice and replace it with someone that sounds a little more like James Earl Jones! Goku's voice is probably the best but it doesn't really sound or even close to the true version. The rest just plain sucked. Zarbon sounding like an aussie? Also those other Saiyajins from the room of space and time. I doubt if this is even American at some points! But out of all the characters the ones that sucked the most are.... 3.Theme Song The songs that Saban created for DBZ really sucked!!! But the only good one(considering they are only comparing 2 songs) is the Dragon Ball Series! I mean, that song had more than 9 words in it! Amazing! Plus they put more effort to making that song. Unlike the Dragon Ball Z series, which pretty much only had 9 words in the song. Dragon, Dragon, Rock, the, Dragon, Dragon, Ball, Z, Yeah....come on! Even I could do better than that!...True, it has a beat, but it can never beat the Japanese version of that song!...And to point out, The "Rock the Dragon" is not the American version of the "Cha-La" song they made in Japan, though most people say that for some reason. I mean, it doesn't translate, sound like, or the sequence of the opening, come even close to the Japanese version. For those who heard or seen it, you know what I mean. If not, you can click here and hear what it sounds like. Another thing about the Dragon Ball Z theme song I forgot to mension was that Saban is too cheap to hire a real singer, instead the person who sings that crappy 9 words is non other than Shuki Levy, the co-producer. Now, it really is a shame, but that "rock the dragon" song is really annoying...I just hope they change it soon, cause some people might be getting crazy ideas listening to that crap! 4.Names When I first heard what they called the Dragon Ball characters,
I was annoyed.. Isn't it bad enough that they edit out the good parts
and the other things I mensioned?...But no...they had to go over the
top and screw the names also!...Sometimes I wish I can do something
about it, but I can't...so all I can do is nag ^_^. First of all
I think they did this because they think Americans won't be able to
pronounce the names...oh sure! After about hearing a name for at least 2 times
, people should pronounce it easily...but no..they think Americans are
dumb (I'm asian, but I'm sticking up for you!) so they make it simple.
