Two additional members of IHF: Cook Islands and El Salvador
During its meeting held last weekend in Vienna
the Council of the International Handball Federation decided to welcome two new handball
federations as provisional members: Cook Islands (continent Oceania) and El Salvador
(Panamerica). Recognition of full membership can, in line with the bylaws, only be
given by the IHF Congress in Portugal in 2000.
Thus the world handball federation now numbers a
total of 145 member federations, distributed by continent as follows: Africa 44, Asia
31, Europe 46, Oceania 5 and Panamerica 19.
