Aims

Heartstart Thurrock is a scheme affiliated to, though distinct from, the Heartstart UK initiative co-ordinated by the British Heart Foundation. Heartstart UK is an initiative promoting and developing Emergency Life Support (ELS) training throughout the United Kingdom.

As a Heartstart UK affiliated scheme, Heartstart Thurrock was established to:

• increase public awareness of the need for Emergency Life Support (ELS) training;
• arrange and provide training in ELS techniques in accordance with the current guidelines of, or accepted by, the Resuscitation Council (UK) or the Heartstart UK Steering Group;
• contribute to the wider development of the Heartstart UK initiative.

Within the Thurrock community we aim to meet these objectives by offering ELS training to local community clubs and organisations on a no-charge, donation only basis.

Thurrock is a borough of South Essex situated in the south east of England, in the United Kingdom. It is bordered by Greater London to the west, the River Thames and the county of Kent to the south, and Essex County to the north and east.
