Judith C. Heitzman, Ph.D., LCSW

Hello and welcome. I am Dr. Judy Heitzman, a licensed clinical social worker with more than fifteen years of clinical experience. In my early practice years, I worked with children and families in community mental health.

For the last twelve years, I have been in private practice, and continue to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have expertise in a variety of interpersonal issues, including work with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, school related problems, marital issues, domestic violence, substance abuse, and grief issues. I am also as Assistant Professor on the part time faculty at the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville, where I have taught for the past ten years. As part of my role on the Graduate School faculty, I have taught courses on Mental Health, Psychopathology, Children and Family Issues, and Clinical Practice at both the Foundation and Advanced levels.

In my doctoral work, I chose to work with issues around violence prevention. I specifically hold creativity in high esteem, and am interested in how the restorative properties of music help in the recovering process for persons who have survived the trauma of experiencing violence. My social work values include the use of resources, and I frequently encourage clients to use the available resources in their own communities.

My office is located at 1711 Bardstown Road in the heart of Louisville's Highlands neighborhood. The office is easily accessible from most of Louisville and Southern Indiana. Office hours are by appointment by calling (502) 608-2472.
