Being from Maine, and having lived here all my life, I feel compelled to share it with the world. Maine has always played a large part in American History. We were active in the war of 1812, the Mexican war, and we were one of the first states to become industrilized. This is a big accomplishment for a state so small, and personnally I don't think Maine recieves enough credit for what she is. Maine is a beautiful state with rich history. We also have many wonderful places for tourist atractions, and thats all they are, places in Maine are not for the greedy who want to suck up tourist money but when we build comercial sites it is to make the outsider feel more comfortable. Maine has a varity of beautiful sites. Maines cost line, which is longest in the country would strech from here to almost Oklahoma if the rocky edges were streched. This leaves for beauiful beaches and spray holes. Also our many light houses are situated along the coast not only to warn ships of rocks but to magnify the beauty of Maine. If you prefer winter to summer, Maine has a varity of ski resorts such as Sugarloaf, Sundayriver, Saddleback, Lost Valley,Shawnee Peak (which have night skiing also), and we are not that far from New Hampshire, who also have beautiful ski resorts. I could go on forever about what Maine is like but I think if you follow some of the links below than you will come to appricate Maine as much as I do!!!!
