RENAISSANCE FAIRE
Using your web research skills, create a web page I could consult if I wanted to put on a Renaissance Fair.  This project may be done with a small group.  I would want to know about the following Renaissance customs and/or traditions:

        • costumes
        • food/recipes
        • contests/games
        • crafts
        • famous characters
        • music/dancing
        • social manners

SPEAK THE SPEECH
Use your computer's Sound Recorder

(Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>Multimedia)
to record a series of monologues and soliloquies from the play and save them as sound files.  Use them to support an online essay or a Powerpoint presentation to support one of the following:
  • Romeo and Juliet's personalities determined their fate.
  • Mercutio and Tybalt both contribute greatly to the disastrous events in the play.
  • The Capulets are far worse parents than the Montagues.
  • Paris is the most tragic figure in this play.

YOU'RE THE DIRECTOR
Visit the Globe Theatre and then write stage directions for one of the scenes from the play as if you were staging it on the Globe's stage.  For assistance with writing stage directions, see The Virginia Commonwealth School of the Arts General Stage Directions page.

FRESHMEN SURVEY
All of the members of the Freshman class read  Romeo and Juliet.  Create a survey which reflects the opinions of at least 100 Freshmen (Ms. Ford will distribute surveys) regarding the play's characters, plot, the adaptations of it, whether or not it should be a part of the standard curriculum and why, favorite characters/lines/scenes, etc.  Report your findings to the class via Powerpoint, flyer, or web page.  For directions on how to conduct a survey, click here.
