Beatle John Lennon, in a frank interview in the U.S. pop music journal Rolling Stone, blames Paul McCartney's attempts to dominate the group for leading to it's breakup and claims the other Beatles insulted his Japanese-born wife, Yoko Ono.
Lennon also had some outspoken things to say about the solo albums recently issued by his former colleagues - Ringo : "Good, but I wouldn't buy any of it." McCartney : "Rubbish." George Harrison : "Personally, at home, I wouldn't play that kind of music."
Lennon, who has just issued his solo album, said : "I prefer myself, I have to be honest, you know."
"Ringo was all right, so was Maureen [Ringo's wife], but the other two really gave it to us. I'll never forgive them."
Lennon said all the Beatles got "fed up of being sidemen for Paul."
Lennon listed his experiences with drugs and said he stopped LSD because he just could not stand the bad trips.
He said he started taking LSD in 1964 and made about a thousand trips.
Lennon said he started on pills at 17 and was on pills when he made his first film A Hard Day's Night and had turned to marijuana when he made the second film, Help!
Paul McCartney started High Court proceedings to end the Beatles partnership.
