My Employment

Work Information

Employed by WTVA TV-9, Tupelo, MS

I am a producer and director for TV9. I started with the organization in the spring of 1976. I left and went to another station in Greenville, MS in 1982, then got an offer to come back to TV9 in 1983, which I took. I have been there since.

Key responsibilities

I direct and help produce a early morning show called "Mornin'". The show that stars Kay Bain has been on the air since 1978. I began directing the show after the first 6 months of it's conception. The show lost it's co-host, Buddy Bain to cancer in 1997, but Kay has continued on. The show includes music, news, weather, sports, tips, Chef Paul and much more. We have consistently been the highest rated morning show in Mississippi. I also direct the NOON program. NOON is primarily a news format show with weather and interviews with community guests.

Operations and Production

When I am not directing programs, I help several dedicated folks in post production of commercials. It is a fun job that requires a lot of thought and creativity

 Special Projects

At WTVA, we have several special projects that we take on each year. The project that we all enjoy doing to most is called "WTVA's - The All American City's Family Picnic in the Park". I have been lucky enough to be the Co-Director for this program. The project consists of 5 Hours of Live Programing from our local city park - Ballard Park in Tupelo. The show is hosted by WTVA TV Anchors and reporters. It (the show) consists or LIVE music by artists such as "The Bluz Boyz" from Jackson, MS; "The Lane Chapel Quartet" from Tupelo and the "Tupelo Symphony Orchestra and Chorus". The grand finale is a SUPER Fireworks presentation. Oh, I forgot to mention, this all happens on July 4th weekend ! Not only do we present this program Live on TV for 5 hours, but it is a city wide affair. The attendence at the park for this day of celebration has been recorded at 30,000+. The City of Tupelo, the Tupelo Park and Recreation and the Tupelo Visitors and Convention Bureau have been instrumental in making this day a huge success!
