is where it all begins! You must have space on the web to post a page,
and I have compiled a list of companies that offer free web space to post
your personal pages! Some offer unlimited space, like the one this page
is on, and some offer 10 to 20 megs of space! This is plenty of room for
a small site! |

| Here
I have compiled some editors. Though not all editors are free, the free
ones do a sufficient job! I use Netscape Composer to edit my pages, it
is free with Netscape Communicator! I do recommend that you learn some
html for customizing beyond what the editors allow! This was a necessity
for me, as I wanted to do more! |

this scares alot of people! It doesn't have to though. The basics of html
are really very simple. I found it very fun to learn, and I got a sense
of accomplishment out of learning it! Here are some web pages that will
walk you through it! I bought a book to read along and do the little work
shops in it step by step! There really is nothing like, learning by doing!
There are also some pages to help with your meta tags when you are ready
to submit it to search engines! These meta tags are what search engines
look for when someone does a search for content that would be found on
your page! |
| Graphics / Backgrounds

Here
are a few sites to help you get some nice graphics, animated or static
images, and a good
sources for
backgrounds! There are also some
links to
sites that offer graphic editors. This is
a necessity
if you want to customize your buttons and images to your liking! When using
images
that someone
else has created and have a copy write to, they usually ask you to link
back to
there page
so they receive the credit for the graphic! This is a good practice, I
don't usually make my own images but I would want people to be polite enough
to recognize me if I did! After all they are doing it so you don't have
to! |

Guestbooks > |

| Counters
can be very useful if you want to keep track of how many people are visiting
your site, but some of them don't stop there, they will track where the
person came from, what browser they are using, and more! Guestbooks are
good way to get to know the people visiting your page, they can leave messages
for you or messages for anyone else to see! |
| Video &
Audio > |
|
| Adding
video and or audio to your site can be very useful! Say Grandma lives in
another state and she couldn't be there to see her grandchild's recital,
so you get the video made into a file playable for the internet that has
some or all of the recital, wouldn't that make Grandma happy? If you don't
need video, just use audio! This can also help if you have a business and
want to display a product in a unique way! |

| Finally,
when all is said and done! You can submit your finished page to the search
engines! Make sure you are ready though, with all your meta tags made and
legal! Some search engines require strict rules for listing, and will not
list your site if you don't follow them! With the help of a meta analyzer
or something of that nature, you shouldn't have a problem! |
