SARAH (Sally) ODENEAL

    Sarah was born Oct 12, 1802 in Rockingham Co., NC. She married Zachariah Fewell Dec. 24, 1818 in Rockingham Co., NC. They had twelve children. About 1833 they moved to Missouri, first to Howard Co. MO where Benjamin Franklin Fewell was born and later to Benton Co., MO. Zack became the first representative of Benton Co. He died in 1842 and Sarah remarried Henry Fewell in 1845, but in the 1850 MO census she is listed as head of household with her children, so she perhaps was widowed again.. There were no children by the second marriage. The childrens names are, Mary Odineal FEWELL, Jane Ann FEWELL, Francis E.FEWELL, Sarah Matilda FEWELL, Martha Melinda FEWELL, Zachariah Rufus FEWELL, John Blair FEWELL, Benjamin Franklin FEWELL, William Mason FEWELL, James Patrick FEWELL, Thomas Benton FEWELL and Susan F. FEWELL..

MARY ODINEAL FEWELL

    Mary Odineal FEWELL married Henry H. Means Sept 5, 1844, they had eight children, Samuel A., Benjamin F., Zackary T., Sarah, Susan Ellen, Mary Lou, Millard Harrison, and Milton O.
    A Lou Means married G. W. Carrol Oct 20, 1883 and a Mary S. Means married a J. A. McIntire Oct. 18, 1883 both in Henry Co., MO. It is possible that one of these is the Mary Lou.

    Millard Harrison Means married Adaline Peckenpaugh Aug 4, 1881, they had seven children.

PEARL STELLA MEANS

    Pearl was born May 29, 1883. She married a Mr. Hinckler.
    I believe that Pearl died in Centralia, IL.

MARY E. MEANS

    Mary was born Aug. 28, 1885. She married Thomas W. McNanmara. Thomas was a lawyer and they lived in Kansas City, MO. Thomas died Dec. 9, 1968, in Kansas City and Mary died May 1977 in Daly City, CA. He is buried at Mt Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.

    Thomas W. McNamara, 85, of 5106 Wabash died yesterday at the home. He was born in Auburn, NE and lived here 61 years. Mr. McNamara was a lawyer until he retired. He was a member of the Kansas City Bar Assoc., the Community Christian Church and the Ivanhoe Masonic Lodge. A past High Priest of the K. C. Knights Templar. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary E. McNamara of the home, a daughter Mrs. Mary E. Gregg, San Francisco, a granddaughter and five great grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 O'Clock Wed. At the Newcomer Chapel, Brush Creek and the Paseo. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
    They had at least one daughter.

MARY ELIZABETH McNAMARA

 
    Mary was born Nov. 12, 1916. She married Mr.Gregg. She died Oct. 1984 in Daly City, CA.
    They had at least one daughter.

MILTON O. MEANS

    Milton was born Feb. 25, 1860 in MO and married China P. NIGGINTON Sept. 20, 1884. In the Jan. 14 edition of the Clinton Eye Weekly it stated M. O. Means had suffered a stroke but was recovering at his daughters home (Mrs. Jim Underwood). He died before Sept. 1, 1932 but the date is unknown at this time. They had three children.

STELLA B. MEANS

    Stella was born July 1886 and married Jim Underwood.

DONNA MAE MEANS

Dora was born Aug. 1887 and died in 1927 apparently unmarried. Her headstone has Donna as her name and other info states Dora. I'm going with the headstone.

THOMAS M. MEANS

It is believed Thomas was born Dec. 9, 1889 and died in Newton, IL in April 1969.

JANE ANN FEWELL

    Jane Ann Fewell married Philemon Sutherland July 12, 1842, they had eight children, Zachariah Rufus, Susan E., Sarah Frances, Martha, John Philemon, Thomas, and two daughters that died in infancy. Jane is buried at Machpelah Cemetery in Lexington, MO. It is believed that Philemon died in the Civil War and is buried in Arkansas, but this is not confirmed.

    Sarah Fances Sutherland married Titus Olivan Samuels April 11, 1883, they had two children. They moved to California.

    John Philemon Sutherland moved to Emporia, KS in 1880 and then on to Ramona, CA, arriving Nov. 25, 1886. He settled a government claim at Ballena, about six miles east of Ramona, where he operated a fruit and grain ranch. During this time surveying was being done on the Sante Ysabel River near Johns ranch for a reservoir to provide water for San Diego. The Sutherland Dam was named after John. In 1903 he was awarded a contract to haul building materials for construction of the Ramona Town Hall. He later went into the real estate and insurance business, retiring at the age of 90. He was treasurer of the Ramona Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Grace Church of Ramona, and the Old Timers club of San Diego. He married Jessie May Clark, Sept 10, 1896.
    They had six children.
