Ex-prostitute Kimberly Brady fell head over heels for Agent Shane Donovan, but he was still getting over his first wife Emma's "death" and his shock over her return to town. Kim was blind due to stress, but despite their respective problems, they fell in love. They later became engaged and she told him she was pregnant.
The song "Friends and Lovers" was used as the love theme between Shane Donovan and Kimberly Brady. Although it was immediately a hit with Days of Our Lives fans, the song was turned down by major record labels for quite some time. Finally USA Carrere took on the project and Gloria Loring's recording quickly hit the number two spot on Billboards Top 100 in 1986.
